Online course: Monitoring the SDGs from the local level

The 2030 Agenda sets up a roadmap to foster inclusive and sustainable communities through the different SDGs, targets and indicators. With a large part of the targets depending on the engagement of local and regional governments (LRGs), monitoring progress in their implementation from the sub-national level is of paramount importance.

This course introduces the volunteer national review process set up by the UN to monitor progress towards the SDGs, and examines the actions that Associations of Local and Regional Governments can carry out to connect LRGs to this process and the pursuit of the Global Agenda.

Through articles, interactive infographics and exercises, this course shows how LRGs and their associations can participate in their country’s voluntary national reviews, and the initiative of an increasing number of cities to develop their own voluntary local reviews,.
